Poomully Mana is considered to
be the richest and the most powerful Nampoothiri family in
Kerala. Originated 500 years ago, Poomully Mana was reconstructed
in 1850 by Shri. Poomully Narayanan Nampoothiripad. The richest
landlords in Kerala, Poomully Mana’s people were famous
for promoting various Arts and Cultural forms of Kerala. The
Poomully Mana was famous for its Kerala Style of Architectural
Design. For centuries Poomully Mana’s name and fame
continues, and it has contributed in its own way in preserving
and nurturing the tremendous and rich heritage, which is unique
to Kerala.
Poomully Neelakandan Nampoothiripad
popularly known as Aram Thampuran was born in 1921. He was
a living legend and was an authority in Ayurveda, Kalari,
Yoga and other performing Arts. His expertise in all forms
of art and literature and his knowledge in all facets of life
gave him the name “Arivinte Thampuran” (King of
Knowledge). He is unmatched in his knowledge of Ayurveda.
His selfless and untiring efforts in the treatment and promotions
of Ayurveda have been widely acclaimed. This can be amply
seen by the work done by him at the Keraleeya Ayurveda Samajam, Shornoor,
where under his Chairmanship a Research facility for the treatment
of Diabetes and Infertility has been established with great
success.
Decades ago, when no modern facilities
existed in the field of “Visha Chikilsa” (Toxicology),
Shri Nampoothiripad had won the respect of many with his curative
powers. Shri Poomully Neelakandan Nampoothiripad was gifted
with lot of followers and disciples and the knowledge and
Karisma of Aram Thampuran is preserved by his followers and
they are passing this for the well being of the mankind.
Today, Poomully Mana is being
used as a Heritage Ayurvedic Treatment Centre with all facilities
to suit modern lifestyle but with out losing sight of traditional
Values and Principles. A right combination of Ayurveda, Kalari,

Library - The
Peringode Poomully Mana library holds an immense collection
of books and manuscripts that are illustrative examples
of India’s proud cultural heritage. The library holds
works on a wide range of subjects namely Ayurveda, Hasthi
Ayurveda, Visha chikilsa , Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas,
Ithihasas, Dharmasasthras, Jyotisha, Ganitha, Kosha,
Vyakarana, Chandas, Shilpa and Vasthu Sasthra . Thantras,
Manthras, Sthothras, Music etc. The library also boasts
hundreds of Manuscripts written in Malayalam and Grandha
Script. The library contains an extremely rare
collection of manuscripts on such subjects as Kalaripayattu
and treatments.

Yoga Room
Kalari -The
traditional training of Kalarippayattu, a martial art
of Kerala, is always done inside the Kalari which is
specially constructed practicing area. Kalari Payattu
was first introduced to Peringode in 1940. This Kalari
is situated in the Sri Rama Temple of Poomully Mana
Kaavu - The
sacred groves or forests (kaavu) is perhaps the oldest
eco-friendly project of ancient Kerala. The evergreen
forests with temples within them used to be considered
sacred and protected.Poomully mana still keeps the kaavu
in its original state which describes the mana's commitment
on preserving the heritage and ecofriendly activities.
