Jahazgarh or Jahajgarh is a prominent village in District Jhajjar, State Haryana, India. It is about 10 kilometres from Jhajjar and about 35 kilometres from Delhi border and situated on Delhi-Dadari-Pilani sate highway. The 1,320 megawatts Jhajjar Thermal Power Project is about 20 km from the village.
Important activities and tourist attractions
The annual cattle fair has been the major point of attraction at this village. The cattle fair is one of largest gathering of buyer and seller in Sate Haryana, attracting trader from surrounding states like Uttar Prades, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat. The most famous buffalo breed of India, Murrha, attracts the traders from far places. It can produce milk up to 35 kg per day.
The fair generates considerable commercial and employment activities for the local villagers. Some sports and cultural activities are also conducted during the fair, though its potential as a major tourist place in the area is highly under utilised. |
