| Welcome
to Kerala Hill Station
While Kerala is immediately
identified with beautiful beaches and backwaters,
there's more to Kerala than golden sun, white
sand and blue sea. As you move further in from
the coast on your Kerala Tour with Kerala Backwater
and leave the beaches and backwaters behind, you
will find the roads winding upwards along the
Western Ghats that are the hill ranges in Kerala.
Kerala has many
beautiful hill stations. Not only are these beautiful
destinations they are also the source of the famous
spices of Kerala. Spices such as pepper, cardamom,
cinnamon and the cashew nut have been grown in
plantations on these hill stations in Kerala,
for centuries. Cash crops such rubber and tea
were introduced by the Dutch and English colonial
rulers of Kerala in the 18th and 19th centuries,
when they realized these plants could grow in
the tropical climate of Kerala.
Some of the hill stations in Kerala are:
MUNNAR……….
in communion with the best of nature
One of the most popular
hill stations in India. Located at 1600 mts. above
sea level, it is breathtakingly beautiful and
a haven of peace and tranquility. This idyllic
tourist destination was the favored summer resort
of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial
days. Pristine valleys and mountains, unending
expanse of tea plantations, exotic species of
flora and fauna, aroma of spice scented cool air,
is what makes Munnar a place to visit. It is a
place that you would wish never to leave. More
Wagamon:
Also spelt Vagamon,
this beautiful hill station in Kerala is located
at an altitude of 1100 m above sea level. It is
64 Km from Kottayam and 100 Km from Kochi (Cochin).
A stunningly beautiful series of gentle hills,
valleys, waterfalls and green slopes, Wagamon
has to be seen to be truly appreciated. There
is a famous dairy farm at Kurusimala in Wagamon,
which you can visit on your tour of the hill stations
of Kerala with Kerala Backwater. More
