Mount Harriet National Park is in South Island, 10 km from Port Blair. It is surrounded by some of Andaman's highest mountain peaks and has dense evergreen forests. The park is a birdwatcher's delight and you can stay at the forest guesthouse on top of Mount Harriet for fantastic views. There are several well-marked trekking trails in the area too. One of them leads to the Madhuban Beach where you can watch domestic elephants being trained for the timber industry.
