Bahadurgarh Fort is 6kms away from Patiala city. It is situated on Patiala-Chandigarh road. The fort was constructed by Nawab Saif Khan in 1658 A.D and refurnish by Maharaja Karam Singh in 1837. The entire building was completed in eight years. Ten lakh rupees were spent on its construction. The fort covers the area of 2kms. The fort is enclosed with two rounded walls. Total area of the fort is 2100m.
The name Bahadurgarh fort is given by Maharaja Karam Singh as a tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur ji when he was going to Delhi and stay here for three months and nine days. The fort consist of historical Gurdwara Sahib named Gurdwara Sahib Patshai Nauvin.This Gurudwara shows the fine Sikh architecture. This gurudwara is controlled by Shiromini Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee. People visit this gurudwara on the occasion of Baisakhi.
A mosque is also present in the Fort. It was built by Saif Khan in the year 1668. The tomb of Saif Khan is situated 300 yards away from the fort. In the memory of Saif Khan a fair is organized during June and January. It is named as mela roza Sharit Nawab Saif Ali.
No doubt Bahdurgarh has rich historical background but now a days it is famous for Milk-food and Escorts. This industry provides plentiful employment opportunities for local residents.
