With the introduction of modern appliances in daily life Laziness intervenes in to one’s life leading to back pain, overweight, mental stress and menstrual disorders. In yoga, for each of these problems, there is an asana, to relieve your pain.

Yoga to cure menstrual disorders

For the disorders, oavana mukthasana, ardhaghadichakram, eakapakanthanam, vyakram, ananthasanam, can be used effectivelly. Were as untimely menstrual periods and excessive bleeding can be cured by practicing ardhathesyandrasanam, yogamanthra for 2-3 months.

Facilitate normal delivery

Pregnant women can practice yoga. And can expect a normal delivery as said by the yogacharyas. After conception, in the first five month swasnakriya, kandachalanam, eakapadhautthansanam, vyagrasanam, annthasanam (at any time) can br practiced. In case of dispositional uterus, asanas like pavanamuktham vipareethakaranamudra (can also be done with the support of a wall) are prescribed.and it’s found to be very effective.

Back pain

Most of the women are inflicted with back pain. And they should avoid jobs that include bowing movements and lifting of heavy objects. For them asanas like bhujangasanam, vykram, kandharam and found to be effective.

Neck pain

It is seen in individuals, who usually droop their neck, while operating computers or reading files etc.this can be completely cured with the help of asanas like vyakram, bhiyangam, naukam etc.

Maintaining body shape

Accumulation of the body tissues result in an uneven body curvature and shape. And this happens mostly, when you are in your own middle-age. Through yoga you can regain the lost shape, by practicing asana like shalabhasana, dhanurasana, which are found effective.

Weight shedding

Overweight, gastric complains like constipation can be cured effectively by experiencing the pavanamukthasanam. For shaping this thigh region and increasing the sexual potency in women, anathasana is preferred.

Asthma

Experiencing abdomen breath, shoulder breath, chest breath, arshaghadichakram, pavanamuktham, you nare relieved from most of the right muscles of the ribs. Where as in the case of pavanamuktham, the diaphragm is pushed up, providing enough space for the easy expansion and contracting of the lungs and chest.

Yoga and well-being

Practices such as paranayamam, nadhishudi, dhyanam, savasanam, can bestow you with a stress free life. Simply by focusing your mind on a particular object for aboput 15 minutes without any intervention can increase your concentration power. This is essential for a fruitful life.

Kundalini yoga

Kundalini yoga is rooted in tantric tradition. The word ‘trantra’ means expand or continue and in the applied sense it is that which extends knowledge. The Tantric principles and practices have tremendous influence on the philosophical and religious traditions of India. Buddhists and the Jainist also adopted them. Earliest modified Tantric texts go back to the beginning of Christian era.

Kundalini yoga is the esoteric Tantric practice to raise the ‘kundalini; force which is coiled on the base of the spinal column and merge it with the seventh chakra on top of the head, which leads to self realization of the seeker. In tantric tradition lord shiva and his consort goddess shaki represent purusha (male principal) and prakruthi (female principal). Human body, which is microcosms, is inhabited by male and female principles.

In Tantric tradition the male principle, which is part of universal consciousness as, is called “ataman”. Ataman is part of purusha or ‘brahama’ the universal consciousness. ”kundalini” which literally means “coiled over itself” is the “shakti” representing the goddess or “prukuti”. It is represented by various symbols such as fire or serpent and it lies dormant in human body. The aim of yoga is awaken the kundalini shakti (power). Self realization is attained by dissolution of risen power of kundalini in to ‘atman’. With in human body lies a subtle body (sukshmasarira).

The subtle body is represented by a network of nadis (channels) and it is compared to universe itself. Various elements of the cosmos are represented in different parts of the body. ‘prana’ or the vital energy is guided in to different parts of the subtle body through a network of ‘nadis’. The three nadis are ‘ida’ ‘pingala’and ‘sushumna’. These intersections at six different places represent six of the seven chakras. ‘Chakra’ means wheels but here it indicates the confluent points of vital energy for the rise of the kundalini power. The seventh chakra is on top of head and indicates the termination of the journey of kundalini and its meeting with ‘atman’. When the kundalini reaches the seventh chakra on top of the head, symbolically called “1000 petalled lotus” it unleashes tremendous creative energy in the seeker. Kundalini yoga has to be done with almost care guided by an experienced guru.

Why is “yoga siddhi”?

Patanjali describes the eight fold yogic practices-ashtanga yaga-as a means of getting rid of affections. Attentions, contemplation and meditation are the accomplishment of these practices. When these three operates on one object it is called “samyama” –control. Through practice of “sanyama” one develops discerning ability and by performing samyama on diverse factors, various ‘siddhis” are attained. Siddhi is a special phychic power like clairvoyance, ability to heal etc. but the yogic use “samyama” for conquering senses. A true yogi has to be indifferent to his powers and ought not to exhibit wonders of his ‘siddhis’ as this will ensure evil by his involvement in the world object again.
